Back in the early days of the internets, there was a website comparing the local vernaculars of the various US regions. Someone, a person lost to web history, claimed that people in South Boston would refer to a sub as a "spuckie". I was not able to confirm this until today, when reading about Cutty's on the Serious Eats blog.
